    Mounting/Lamination

Finishing a print with a laminate enhances, protects, adds function and increases value to the finished product.

By mounting or laminating you can transform any image into a vibrant graphic with enhanced color, special effects or textures that cannot be achieved through printing alone.

A finished print has body, stability and protection from physical wear and tear. Overlaminating a print provides resistance to abrasion or environmental influences that could cause the image to fade or deteriorate.

The protective laminate should be used for both indoor and outdoor finishes - ACT's account managers will recommend best use.

    Lamination
The finish to the face of the print is taken from one of the following options:

    • matt - a glare free laminate which is recommended for most internal graphics particularly those for text.
    • deep crystal - a satin matt laminate with a scratch resistant finish used for popups and rollups.
    • gloss - a high glare laminate which should be used on image only graphics, signage and vehicle graphics in particular.

    Mounting
Some of the more popular materials that we supply include:

    • foam pvc - class 1 fire rated rigid PVC board available in 1,2,3,4,5,6,8,10,19mm thicknesses and can be used for both internal and external applications.
    • foamboard - this a foam centred lightweight board in 5 and 10mm thicknesses.  More care should be taken with this board as it damages more easily and can only be used for internal applications.  There are a number of different qualities and types - often referred to as Kappa.
    • display card - a grey centred recyclable economic product which is used for internal use only.
    • white faced corrugated - a board used for dump bins which can also be cut and creased for packaging prototypes.
    • dibond/reynobond - an aluminium composite material which comes in thicknesses of 2,3 and 4mm.  This material is a lightweight alternative to aluminium which is used in signage and hoarding work.
    • acrylic/perspex - a coloured or clear plastic often used in light boxes or for cut out letters.  Available in a number of thicknesses including 2,3,4,5,6,8 and 10mm.
